Braus Is Here: Your Claude or ChatGPT, at Work in Pro Tools

OCT 27, 2026

Braus is out today in beta: Forte's AI agent for Mac apps, focused on Pro Tools in this first release. You tell it what you need done in your session, in plain words, and it does the work in the background while you keep working. It is free during the beta, and the free part is not a countdown: Braus will always have a free version.

Your Claude or ChatGPT, at work in Pro Tools

Most engineers already use an AI for something. A tricky client email, a question about a delivery format, a script someone said would rename files faster. What none of those chats could ever do was touch the session. The advice arrived in a browser tab, and the work still happened by hand, click by click, in Pro Tools.

Braus closes that gap. It connects the AI you already use, your own ChatGPT or Claude, to Pro Tools, so a request stops being advice you follow by hand and becomes work that happens in your session. Braus is a Forte product, built by the Forte team, and it is a different kind of tool from fMusic and fPost: those automate specific prep and export jobs, while Braus takes one request at a time, in your words, and carries it out while you do something else. It does not automate whole workflows, and it is not trying to.

What you can ask today

In this release Braus reads your session and acts on tracks, selections, files and the session itself, in the Mix and Edit windows. Concretely, requests like these:

  • "Name Audio 1-4 Kick, Snare, Bass, and Vox." The four tracks are renamed while you keep editing.
  • "Import the stems in Desktop/Stems as new tracks." The files land as new tracks, and Braus checks they arrived.
  • "Mute Kick and Snare, then rename Bass 2 to Synth Bass." Two changes, one request.
  • "Which tracks are muted or record-armed?" You get an answer like: OH L and OH R are muted. Vox is record-armed.
  • "Create four mono audio tracks named Kick, Snare, OH L and OH R, then mute the two overheads." The session grows by four tracks, set up as asked.

Braus can also tell you the session's sample rate and bit depth, report the current selection, select tracks and timeline ranges, and open, save and close sessions. That is the list today.

It works in the background and checks its work

Braus does its work without taking your Mac away from you. Your mouse and keyboard stay yours, and Pro Tools does not jump to the front: you can answer email, prep the next session or sit in the Edit window of the same one.

After each change, Braus reads the session again to check the result, and it tells you when it could not check. If a series of track changes fails halfway, Braus puts the tracks back: it removes tracks it created and restores the previous names, mute, solo and record-arm states. And you can stop Braus at any time from the Braus app; stopping does not undo changes already made, it just stops.

How to start

  1. Download Braus from the Braus page or the Forte download page. It needs macOS 15 or later on Apple silicon.
  2. Open it and sign in with your Forte account, or create one free.
  3. Connect your ChatGPT or Claude subscription inside Braus.
  4. Ask for what you need in Pro Tools, in plain words, and keep working.

What you need right now

Two things. A Forte account, which existing Forte users already have and new users create free, on the site or directly in the app. And your own ChatGPT or Claude subscription, connected inside Braus: in this beta, Braus works with the AI you already pay for. AI models provided by Forte will come later.

On the machine side, Braus needs macOS 15 or later and an Apple silicon Mac; Intel Macs are not tested. These requirements are Braus's own and apply only to Braus.

What leaves your Mac

Worth stating plainly, because it is the first question a working engineer should ask. Braus turns Pro Tools windows into text on your Mac, then sends that text and your request to the AI you connected. Screen images stay on your Mac. Braus's app knowledge and your conversations are stored on your Mac. What the connected AI sees is the text description of the session and what you asked for.

Free now, and free to stay

Everything in the beta is free: every capability, every request, for everyone with a Forte account. That is the easy part to say. The part worth saying clearly is what happens after: Braus is built to always have a free version. Some of what Braus learns to do from here will end up paid; having Braus at work in Pro Tools will not. The only cost of running it today is the AI subscription you connect, and that one is already yours.

There are no future prices to announce here. What this article can promise is the floor: a free Braus exists today, and a free Braus stays.

It is a beta: tell us what breaks

It is a real beta: expect rough edges, and when something breaks, tell us. The fastest route is the Braus Discord, and feedback also reaches us through the Braus page. The docs and the wider product live at braus.ai if you want to go deeper.

Pro Tools is the focus of this release. Work on other Mac apps, such as DaVinci Resolve, is early, no promises.

FAQ

Is Braus free?

Yes. Everything in the beta is free, and a free version of Braus is permanent, not a launch promotion: some future capabilities will be paid, but having Braus will not be. You sign in with a Forte account, which is also free to create, and connect your own ChatGPT or Claude subscription.

Do I need a ChatGPT or Claude subscription to use Braus?

Yes, right now Braus works with your own ChatGPT or Claude subscription, connected inside the app. AI models provided by Forte will come later.

What are the system requirements for Braus?

macOS 15 or later on an Apple silicon Mac. Intel Macs are not tested. These requirements apply to Braus only.

What data does Braus send off my Mac?

Braus turns Pro Tools windows into text on your Mac and sends that text, together with your request, to the AI you connected. Screen images stay on your Mac, and Braus's app knowledge and your conversations are stored on your Mac.

Does Braus replace fMusic or fPost?

No. fMusic and fPost automate specific prep and export jobs in Pro Tools. Braus is a different way to work: one request in plain words, done in the background. Many engineers will use both.

Can I stop Braus while it is working?

Yes, at any time, from the Braus app. Stopping does not undo changes Braus already made. If a series of track changes fails halfway on its own, Braus removes the tracks it created and restores the previous names, mute, solo and record-arm states.

Braus puts the AI you already use to work inside Pro Tools, free today and never without a free version. Download it and ask for something at forte-ai.com/braus.

Stop doing the prep by hand.

fPost imports the AAF, routes and names every track, and hands you a session that is ready to mix.
