Import and Organize
Import Settings
These options appear in the left panel of the import configuration screen, after clicking Next in the Visualizer. They apply to AAF imports only.
Session data options
- Import Rendered Audio Effects: off by default
- Import Clip Gain: off by default
- Import Volume Automation: off by default
- Only Include Clips on Timeline: off by default
Media handling
Controls where your audio files end up after import:
- Link to source media (default): audio files stay in their original location. Fastest option.
- Copy from source media: copies audio files into the Pro Tools session folder. Good if you want a self-contained session.
- Consolidate from source media: trims unused portions of each file and copies only what is on the timeline. Enables the Handle Size field.
- Force to target format: converts audio to the session's native sample rate and bit depth.
Handle Size: when consolidating, this adds a small buffer of extra audio around each clip. Useful if you want a little room for edits after import. Set it in timecode format.
Timecode mapping
Controls where clips land in the Pro Tools timeline:
- Maintain absolute values (default): clips keep their exact original timecode positions.
- Maintain relative values: clips keep their spacing relative to each other but the overall position may shift.
- Map start timecode to: enter a timecode and fPost shifts all clips so the session starts at that point. Defaults to 01:00:00:00.
Track offset
Shifts all clips by a fixed amount. Useful when your AAF and target Pro Tools session have different start timecodes and you need to nudge everything into place.
Sample rate
Shown as a read-only field. This is the destination sample rate from your Pro Tools session. If your source material has a different rate, fPost converts it automatically during import.
