Import from AAF

Use this workflow when your session arrives as an AAF file. fPost imports it into Pro Tools fully organized (classified, routed, and colored) in one step.

1
Drop your AAF into fPost

From the Home Screen, drag your .aaf file onto the fPost window or click Import files. fPost reads the session and classifies all clips automatically.

2
Review in the Visualizer

Check the classification results. Use the Selector and Grabber tools to move any clips that landed on the wrong track. Rename or reorder tracks as needed. Nothing touches Pro Tools yet.

3
Click Next

This opens the import configuration panel. Choose your target Pro Tools session: use the current open session, browse for a .ptx file, or create a new session.

4
Configure your options

Set your media handling, timecode mapping, and any track offsets. Most projects work fine with the defaults. See Import Settings for a full breakdown of every option.

5
Set up template matching

Map each incoming track to a template track in Pro Tools. Template tracks are duplicated during import, so your plugins, sends, and routing carry over. Set category defaults in Settings to speed this up.

6
Click Import

fPost runs 5 steps: preparing tracks, importing the AAF, combining stereo pairs, applying your clip movements, and coloring tracks. A progress dialog shows each step in real time.

When import finishes, click Go to Pro Tools to switch directly to your session. Everything is already in place.
