Preparing your DAW

What you need from Pro Tools depends on which workflow you're using.

Pro Tools must be set to English in both cases. fPost does not work with other DAW interface languages. Change the language in your Pro Tools preferences before running fPost.

AAF import workflow

Pro Tools does not need to be open. fPost processes the AAF file on its own and handles the Pro Tools connection when you're ready to send the session over. At that point, fPost can:

  • Open Pro Tools automatically if it's closed
  • Open an existing session you point it to
  • Create a new session from scratch

PTX session workflow

Pro Tools must be open with the session you want to organize already loaded. fPost connects to the active session. If no session is open in Pro Tools, fPost cannot read the session data.

  1. Open Pro Tools
  2. Open the .ptx session you want to work on
  3. Launch fPost

Checking your Pro Tools version

In Pro Tools, go to Help > About Pro Tools. The version number must be 2024.3 or later. Older versions are not supported.
