Getting Started

Extras

Housekeeping in fMusic lives in two places: the macOS menu bar and a handful of Settings panes. This page collects everything that is not part of the three modules: updates, your account, diagnostics, and shortcuts.

The menu bar

  • Settings… (⌘,) opens the Settings window from anywhere.
  • Edit ▸ Undo / Redo (⌘Z / ⇧⌘Z) work throughout the editor and name the action they revert, such as Undo Add Track or Redo Fader. When a text field has focus, ⌘Z belongs to the field.
  • Help ▸ Replay Onboarding… replays the first-launch tour at any time.

Updates

fMusic updates itself. Settings ▸ About shows the version you are running, an Automatically check for updates switch, and Check for Updates… to check on the spot; an update downloads and installs in place, no reinstall needed. The same pane links to this documentation, pricing, and the Forte website.

Your account

Settings ▸ Account shows the name and email you are signed in with, and Log Out, which returns you to the sign-in screen. Accounts are created on the Forte website: see Creating a free account.

Diagnostics

When reporting a problem, use Settings ▸ General ▸ Diagnostics ▸ Export Debug Logs…. It saves fMusic's compact rotating log as a single file named fMusic2-logs-YYYY-MM-DD.zip, ready to attach to your support request. The log records what the app was doing, never your audio.

Keyboard shortcuts

Every shortcut is listed, and remappable, in Settings ▸ Shortcuts: the editor shortcuts in four sections (Transport, Clip editing, Markers, View & selection), plus the three global print shortcuts that work while Pro Tools is in front, ⌘⌥C (grouped print, solo), ⌃⌥C (grouped print, mute), and ⌘⌥V (one file per selected track).
