How to switch modules

fMusic has three modules: Import, Organize, and Export. There is no mode to switch. The Home screen, titled Start Flow ("Pick where to begin. Pro Tools does the work, fMusic drives it"), presents all three side by side, and you enter the one that matches the job in front of you.

The Start Flow screen

Start Flow is divided into three peer sections. There are no separate workflow buttons: each section carries its own subtitle and its entry controls inside it.

• Import Audio ("Tracks are recognized, named and colored for you"): a single drop well that reads Drop audio here / or choose files…. Drop files or folders onto it, or click it to browse; either way you land straight in the editor.
• Organize Session ("Rename, reorder and recolor tracks"): a Current Session row for the session open in Pro Tools, and an Open a Session… row to browse for a .ptx on disk.
• Export Deliverables ("Bounce stems and mixes"): the same two rows, leading into the export flow.

Below the three sections, the Recent Sessions shelf lists the sessions you loaded most recently; one click reopens a session in the mode it was recorded with. Both entry rows and the shelf are covered in Changing sessions.

Pick the module by intent

• Import Audio: you have new audio files, or folders of stems, to bring into a session.
• Organize Session: a session already exists and you want to reorganize it into your template.
• Export Deliverables: the session is ready and you want to print stems and mixes.

Import and Organize share the same screens

Import and Organize are the same mental operation, laying tracks out correctly; they differ only in where the audio comes from: new files versus the session you already have. Both run through the same two-page wizard, the editor first and then Session Settings, so moving between them costs nothing: there is no second workflow to learn.

Export entry is deliberately lighter

Opening a session for Export puts Pro Tools on the session and takes you straight to your prints: no editor load, no recognition pass. Export needs the session open, nothing more, so entering it is immediate.

You never lose your place

The queue opens from the Queue control in the toolbar; opened from inside Import, Organize, or Export, it shows a Back button that returns you exactly where you were, with your state intact. Work you queued in one module stays queued while you use another. Settings opens in its own window (⌘,) and every change saves itself, so you can adjust defaults mid-flow. Pages inside a wizard carry a step indicator ("Step 1 of 2"), so you always know where you are within a module. You can also replay the guided onboarding anytime from Help, with Replay Onboarding….
