Preparing your DAW

You don't need to prepare anything before launching fMusic. fMusic connects to Pro Tools or Logic Pro automatically and handles the session for you.

Your DAW must be set to English. fMusic does not work with other DAW interface languages. Change the language in your DAW preferences before running fMusic.

How fMusic connects

When you start an import or export, fMusic handles the DAW connection automatically:

  • If your DAW is already open with a session, fMusic scans it and connects to it
  • If your DAW is closed, fMusic opens it for you
  • If no session is open, fMusic can open an existing session or create a new one

fMusic detects which DAW is running and connects to it. If you have both Pro Tools and Logic Pro open, fMusic connects to whichever one has the active session focused.

Checking your DAW version

  • Pro Tools: go to Help then About Pro Tools. Requires 2024.3 or later.
  • Logic Pro: go to Logic Pro then About Logic Pro. Requires 11.1 or later.
