Routing Folders (Pro Tools)

fMusic can create every imported track directly inside its routing folder in Pro Tools, so the session arrives already organized: no manual dragging or assignment afterward.

The Move into routing folders switch

Move into routing folders lives in Settings > Import & Organize, is shown only in Routing mode, and is on by default. In the app's words: "When a category's bus is a routing folder's input, its tracks are created inside that folder. Off: tracks are still routed to the bus, but stay outside the folder."

How a track finds its folder

The match runs through the routing destination, not the track name. Every track carries a route: its category's default, or the destination you picked on the import setup page. When that route is the input bus of a routing folder in the session, the track is created inside that folder. A destination that names a routing folder directly is translated to the folder's input bus, so picking the folder or picking its bus is the same choice.

With the switch on, the Place Tracks picker on the import setup page offers only In Routing Folder: every track lands inside the folder its route names. With the switch off, tracks are still routed to their buses but are placed at the top or bottom of the session, or below a track you pick.

What happens

Every track lands in its folder, grouped by category, with the routing already set up:

• Drums (folder) → Kick, Snare, Hi-Hats, Overheads, Room
• Bass (folder) → DI, Amp
• Guitars (folder) → GTR L, GTR R, GTR Center
• Vocals (folder) → Lead, BVs

After the import your Pro Tools session is ready to mix: all tracks in the right folders, all buses assigned.
