Import Module
Strip Silence
Strip Silence removes silent regions from your tracks automatically during import. You get clean, silence-free tracks in your DAW without touching Pro Tools' or Logic Pro's built-in silence tools.
How it works
fMusic analyzes each audio file during the import process. Any region below the silence threshold is removed before the tracks reach your DAW. The result is a session with clean audio, no long stretches of noise floor, no gap-filling required.
Enabling Strip Silence
Open the Import Customization panel and enable the Strip Silence toggle. Two parameters control the behavior:
- Threshold: the amplitude level below which audio is considered silent (in dB). Lower values strip more aggressively.
- Minimum duration: the shortest silence that gets stripped. Short values catch fast-decaying sounds; longer values only remove sustained silences.
Start with conservative settings and adjust per session type. Drum recordings can tolerate aggressive stripping. Strings and ambience tracks need gentler settings to avoid cutting natural decay.
