Quick file audition

Audition your tracks inside the editor, before anything reaches Pro Tools. The moment a drop lands, every file is a lane you can play, solo and level: no separate audio player, no session required.

Play your tracks

The transport pill sits on the LCD in the editor's control bar: Stop, Back 10 seconds, Play/Pause, Forward 10 seconds and Loop. Space toggles playback, and Loop needs a range selection first, so you can cycle a chorus while comparing takes.

Solo, mute and levels

Each lane header carries M and S buttons and a fader (double-click resets it to 0 dB). To audition one file out of a folder of stems, solo its lane and play; S solos the selected tracks from the keyboard. The … menu in the track panel clears all mutes or all solos in one click.

The preview output device

All in-app playback goes through the device set in Settings ▸ Visualizer ▸ Preview output (default System Default), so auditioning never competes with Pro Tools for your main audio interface. A device that has been disconnected shows as Unavailable device.

When to use it

• Verifying you have the correct takes before import
• Catching corrupt or silent files before they reach Pro Tools
• Quickly reviewing unfamiliar session content
• Confirming a track was categorized correctly by listening to it, then fixing it on the spot with the lane's Category context menu
