Import Module
How to batch rename files
Batch Rename lets you apply a custom naming pattern to all tracks at once. Use it when you need to override AI-R naming for a specific client format or delivery spec.
How to use it
1
Open fMusic Import
Have your audio files loaded into the Import panel.
2
Click the Batch Rename button
The pencil icon in the Import toolbar opens the Batch Rename panel.
3
Set your naming pattern
Configure: prefix, variables (track number, category, custom text), and separator character.
4
Preview the results
fMusic shows a live preview of every track name as you adjust the pattern.
5
Click Apply
All tracks are renamed instantly. The names carry through to your DAW on import.
Available naming variables
- Track number: sequential number within the session (01, 02, 03...)
- Category number: sequential number within the category (Kick 01, Kick 02...)
- Instrument name: AI-R recognized instrument label
- Category name: the category the track belongs to (Drums, Bass...)
- Custom text: any fixed string you type
Batch Rename overrides AI-R naming for the current session. Your saved Renaming Settings preset is not affected. Use Batch Rename for one-off format requirements.
