How to assign routings

fMusic lets you assign custom I/O routings per track or category so your session lands pre-routed on import, no manual patching needed.

Pro Tools

Accessing routing options

In fMusic Import, click the Routing button. The routing window shows all available I/O from your current Pro Tools session.

Setting custom routing

Click Set Routing Option to begin assigning outputs. By default, all tracks route to the main output. To customize:

  1. Select a category or individual track in the routing window
  2. Choose the target bus or output from the dropdown
  3. Repeat for each category you want to route separately
  4. Click Save

Example routing setup

  • Drums → Bus 1-2
  • Bass → Bus 3-4
  • Guitars → Bus 5-6
  • Vocals → Bus 7-8
  • Keys → Bus 9-10

Logic Pro

Accessing routing options

Once your tracks have been analyzed, click Set Routing Option. All routings automatically align with your Logic Pro template, assigning each track to the appropriate bus or output.

Making manual adjustments

To change the routing for specific tracks:

  1. Shift-click to select the tracks you want to reroute
  2. Open the buses menu
  3. Assign them to a new bus
  4. Repeat for any other groups that need different routing

Routing assignments are saved in your preset. Save once and they apply to every future import automatically, no need to reconfigure per session.

Routing with mix templates

When using a mix template, routing assignments in fMusic must match the bus structure of your template. If the bus numbers don't match, tracks land on the wrong channels. Verify your template's bus layout before configuring fMusic routings.
